If you’ve ever browsed our Product Help Forums with the aim to find an answer to your question, you've probably seen the answers given to our users by Google awesome Top Contributors. Curious in learning more about who they are and how to become one? Here are some FAQs:
Who are Top Contributors (TCs)?
Top Contributors are volunteers in our communities who like helping users and who are passionate about Google. They regularly post in Google product forums, helping users to answer their questions about our products. TCs have excellent product knowledge and respect for other users. Only the best of the best are invited to be a TC. Top Contributors are rock stars in our eyes!
What are the benefits of being a TC?
TCs are interested in learning about Google products, which are constantly evolving. Answering other users’ questions is a good way to learn. In some circumstances, TCs may also contact Google employees or receive invitations to events organized by Google.
How can I become a Top Contributor?
You can become a Top Contributor by actively helping the users in the forum. Your answers should be consistently super-helpful, accurate, and friendly. You will enhance your chances of being invited to be a TC if your answers are selected as “Best Answers”. Therefore, it is important to post answers that are as close to solving the user’s problem as possible. A Google employee may reach out to you if he/she considers you as someone who might make a good TC volunteer. Note that not all active posters are good TC candidates; some active posters may not display all the qualities we're looking for and therefore will not be invited to become a TC.
How long will it take to become a TC?
It depends on how active you are in the forum and how helpful your answers are. It may take a few months for an active user to become a TC. Please note that participating as a TC is purely voluntary. Those who are invited to become TCs may drop out of the TC program at any time. Likewise, Google may decide not to keep someone in the program if, for example, he or she stops posting in the forum.
