Google Chrome crashes every time you see a video on YouTube? Here's how to fix it!

Written By Ankit Sharma on Thursday, December 5, 2013 | 3:47 PM

Last week , Google Chrome has made me almost crazy ... :) The point blank and I could not view the video on YouTube. In fact, every time I tried to open a movie , the browser would crash , showing the message " The following plug-in has crashed: Shockwave Flash" .

By doing a little ' research on the web, I noticed that not only me that had this problem , but on the contrary , many have complained about it on the forum of Google support. Unfortunately, among the various proposed solutions (not many to be honest and not directly from Google ), no one wanted to work with me!

So , inevitably , I had to proceed by trial and error , going to hunt the problem. I had one certainty : the plugin integrated into Google Chrome to manage content in Flash , Shockwave, Flash , had some trouble getting along with YouTube. I had to make them become friends again ! :) Yeah, because other sites or flash videos , everything worked properly. Good mystery ! Even disabling it , the situation did not change ...

But in the end , after various tests including installation and uninstallation ( I got to the point that even on Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer go to the plugin flash crash ) , I finally managed to find the solution.

And today, with this post , I want to illustrative , so that you can make even more of my own demise .

Well, if you too have this problem, I suggest you read the rest of the post . Here we go! :)

Step 1 : Uninstall Flash Player

For mac users see this article

For one thing, you have to uninstall the version of flash player you have installed on your computer. Since the manual uninstallation in this case is not effective ( leaves around a bit ' of registry keys in the system) , you have to be using the utility official Adobe . You can download it from here. In the new page to which you have been redirected , please click on the blue link " uninstall_flash_player.exe (229 KB) " , located in step 1 of the guide from Adobe.

After the download , double-click with the left mouse button on the file you just downloaded. Compairà a window in which you are told that the program will remove Adobe Flash Player. You agree , click on " Uninstall". After a few seconds, the program will be successfully removed and , above all, correctly
.
Step 2 : Uninstall Google Chrome

Now , you have to uninstall the browser from Google. To do this, go to " Windows Logo ", " Control Panel" and , under " Programs ", click "Uninstall a program". If you use Windows XP , the path is slightly different. In fact , you should go to " Start," " Control Panel ," " Add or Remove Programs ." Among the programs on your computer , navigate to the "Google Chrome" and uninstall it .

Step 3: Clean the system with Ccleaner

Since the removal of Google Chrome, may have left files and registry keys , which then would create conflict , you have to use a free program for cleaning, called Ccleaner . I had already talked about this in my old guide , but today I will illustrate again. It will take a little because it is really very easy to use .

First, download it by clicking here . In the new page to which you have been redirected , please click on the " Download from FileHippo.com " or on the " Download from Piriform.com ." In the new page that opens, click on "Download Latest Version " at the top , right.

After you download the file , install it. At this point , run Ccleaner , by clicking on the icon on your desktop. Click on " Cleaning" in the upper left. Now, click on " Run Cleaner " in the lower right corner . Without this, click on "Register " in the left sidebar, under "Cleaning". Now , click on " Find Issues" . After the scan is complete, click on " Fix selected ... " . A window will appear in which you are asked if you want to make a backup of the registry before repairing. You can not do it quietly . I use it for years and have never had any problems.

Now that the system has been cleaned properly , restart your computer.

Step 4 : Install the previous version of Flash Player

For Internet Explorer

Having uninstalled flash player using the utility from Adobe, you now have to also reinstall the version for Internet Explorer, and not only for Google Chrome or other browsers. Let's start from the browser from Microsoft.

To solve the problem of Google crash , you have to install a previous version of Adobe Flash Player than what you have on your PC. What I have tried it with success is 10.1.

To do so, please click here. Scroll down the page until you see the message " Old Versions of Adobe Flash Player " . Just below , there will be several links to download previous versions of Flash Player.

Given that you need to download the appropriate version 10.1 and Internet Explorer , click on the blue link called "Flash Player 10.1 (IE) " (the version of 11 June 2010 ) . In the new page that opens, click on the blue writing "Download Flash Player 10.1 (IE) " , next to the icon of the floppy disk .

The download is finished , close Internet Explorer and double-click with the left mouse button on the file you just downloaded , in order to start the installation. In the screen that appears , put a check mark on " I have read and agree to the terms of the contract" license and then click " Install" . After installation , restart your computer.

Step 5: Installing Google Chrome

Now , you can download and reinstall Google Chrome. To do so, please click here. Click on " Download Google Chrome" and then, in the new page that opens, click on " Accept and Install " .

Step 6 : Install the previous version of Flash Player

For Google Chrome

Now , you need to install the version of Flash Player 10.1 compatible with Google Chrome and other browsers (such as Mozilla Firefox ), other than Internet Explorer. To do so, please click here. Unlike before ( Step 4 ) Click "Flash Player 10.1 ( Non-IE Browsers )" and , in the new page that opens, click on "Download Flash Player 10.1 ( Non-IE Browsers ) ."

After you download the file, after making sure that you have closed the various browsers , start the installation of flash player 10.1, double clicking with the left mouse button on the file you just downloaded. As before, after that you will open the installation window , put a check mark on " I have read and agree to the terms of the contract" license and then click " Install" . After installation , restart your computer.

Step 7 : Disable Integrated Flash Player in Google Chrome
Because Google Chrome is updated whenever an update is released for the flash player , even if you now have installed the previous version to the current one , Chrome , using its built-in plugin ( updated to the latest version of flash player ) will continue to go crash whenever try to play a video on YouTube.

When I discovered this detail , I finally figured out how to solve the problem. Do not just use an older version of flash player , but you have to disable the plugin integrated into the browser. How it works? Now , I'll explain .

Open Google Chrome and in the address bar type " about: plugins " (without quotation marks ) and press the Enter key. Click on "Details " on the top right . Scroll down the page until you locate the entry " Flash ( 2 files) " . As is already clear from the name , there are two files that operate the flash. You find the one called " gcswf32.dll ." This name , you can see it in the " Path " . To understand me better, I thought of making a screenshot. Here it is:

The red arrow indicates the file that you have to find . After you have identified , click " Disable". After a few seconds , released a blue writing that tells you to upgrade your Flash player to a newer version . You , ignore it , as it will cause the problem of the crash continues with YouTube and close the browser.

At this point, try to go on YouTube and viewed a video. If everything went the right way , Chrome will play the video without crashing ! :)

Well folks, that's it! As usual , it was a nice article , but I hope it was useful and clear to all of you . If there are any problems or doubts, please leave a comment . I will try to answer you as quickly as possible . Hello ! ;)
