Google and Microsoft do not want to know Android and Windows on the same computer, says Wall Street Journal

At CES 2014, held in January, Asus introduced the Transformer Book Duet Hybrid laptop, which stands for run Windows 8.1 and Android 4.2.2. The manufacturer plans were launching it this month, but we may never behold it in the market: the model would have been canceled, according to The Wall Street Journal, with Google and Microsoft may be behind this decision.

The proposal Transformer Book Duet is interesting: as laptop, the user uses with Windows 8.1, in tablet mode, the Android. Hence we now begin to understand the opposition from Microsoft: Windows 8.1 is also designed to work with tablets, so delegate this function to Android is the same as recognizing that the first operating system is not suitable for these devices.

Google apparently also did not like the dual OS . Next to companies ( Google and Asus ) heard by The Wall Street Journal sources claim that the staff of Mountain View wants Android devices only run this system .

It may seem a strange decision , after all, Google would be " invading " the territory of a rival , but there is good reason for the company to refute the idea : in a sense, the dual Windows and Android OS puts the " hands " , which is not very interesting from the point of view of marketing .

An internal memo from Asus accessed by the newspaper confirmed the cancellation of the Transformer Book Duet . There is also the risk of Transformer AIO , all- in-one Windows and Android launched in 2013 , be discontinued . So far , Asus has not made any pronouncement on the subject .

Anyway , if Google and Microsoft have even lobbying against dual OS , is not only that Asus will be affected . At CES 2014 , Intel had announced plans to launch a specific solution developed for laptops with Windows and Android . If the project is shelved , probably postpone plans of other manufacturers who were already considering the idea , among them the Samsung .

If this all resistance is confirmed, dual OS, apparently, even just in the traditional way: the user installing a second operating system on their own, as was common with Linux and Windows in the recent past.
