Thinking about the security of the user, Google decided to make a smalllarge and important change in the rules for installing extensions in Google Chrome . Installation of extensions homed outside the Chrome Web Store , or on third party websites, is not permitted from January 2014.
The company's explanation for this change is that the extensions are rigorously evaluated by a team of security by the Chrome Web Store a safe place for the extensions. The company can no longer tell if another site that hosts the extension does the same.
According to Google's own words, it informs the user that you want to install the extension, something that was done before the site that was hosting.
"Previously, any site could request that you added an extension to your browser. In the latest version ofGoogle Chrome , you explicitly tells Google Chrome you want to install these extensions by adding them through the Extensions page. "says the instructions .
The measure is welcome since recentlythere was a wave of Infected profiles on Facebook .The user installed an extension on Google Chrome which promised to remove Facebook virus, but actually opened loopholes for the invasion profile.
Even then, it is not believed that the Chrome Web Store was under the gaze of security, but with this new measure of the company, is expected to have really changed.
