Google now includes ads in Gmail Inbox

Written By Ankit Sharma on Friday, January 31, 2014 | 3:50 AM

Google started including advertisements as e-mail inbox's of some Gmail users. This is a new step for the company transform its free services revenue sources.

These messages can be opened as emails and forwarded to others, according to Gmail users who have begun to see them last week. They only appear in new tab "deals" of the new Gmail and are marked with a pale yellow background and labeled "ad", similar to how Google treats some search ads that appear above or to the right of the search results.

In a statement to Venture Beat, Google described the program as follows:

"Instead of ads that always appear at the top of your inbox, they have been displaced a more appropriate place, the Promotions category. In addition, we raise the quality of those ads and we do not show an ad unless it is relevant -. Meaning that sometimes you will not have any ads in your Promotions tab "
